Director - Ryan McNeill

 

BMus MMus(Distinction)

 

 

Ryan holds a first class Masters degree in Music performance from the Royal Irish Academy of Music and an honours degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.  A professional pianist, trained to the highest level, he is also an experienced violinist, orchestral player, chamber musician and chamber tutor.

As a teacher, Ryan adapts his approach to the individual student, ensuring a healthy balance of education and fun! As an educator he is always striving to improve services available to his students developing and holding workshops focussing on areas including performance skills, music examinations, scales, sight-reading, and practice techniques. Ryan founded the 'Ryan McNeill School of Music in Tullamore in 2014 and continues to provide lessons of the highest quality to students within the area, many of whom have gone on to receive awards and recognition for their musical achievements.

Currently a Music Examiner for the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Ryan has worked extensively delivering ensemble instruction and chamber music tuition in both Scotland and Ireland, has given piano masterclasses and holds an orchestral conducting Diploma from the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

 

He has performed in venues including the Berlin Konzerthaus, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Ulster Hall, Waterfront Hall,  Elmwood Hall at Queen's University Belfast and the National Concert Hall in Dublin.  Notable performances include at the World Festival of Youth Orchestras, Murcia 2001, Paris' Parc Floral Classique du Vert Festival, 'Cork 2005' European Capital of Culture opening concert and at the Erin Arts Centre, Isle of Man.  Ryan has also given many performances in both the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland including Solo, Chamber recitals aswell as concerto performances.  He has won many musical awards to date including the Lunchtime Recital Award at the Belfast Classical Music Bursaries, Advanced Performance award in the Royal Irish Academy of Music and numerous successes in both Solo and Chamber Music in music competitions across Ireland.

 

Ryan has also participated in Masterclasses and received lessons from many noteable pianists including John Lill, Ronald Brautigam, John O’Conor, Barry Snyder, Ronan O’Hora, Douglas Humphries and Jean-Efflam Bavouzet aswell as with Barry Douglas at the prestigious Clandeboye Masterclass Series run by Camerata Ireland.

Ryan also founded and directed the 'Midlands Feis Ceoil' - A classical music competition held in Athlone, Co. Westmeath, allowing young musicians from across the country to showcase their talents.
